A controlled terminology checklist for documentation teams.
Turn a small, approved vocabulary into focused local checks for ordinary browser text. Start with the terms that repeatedly drift rather than trying to encode an entire style guide.

Define each rule
- Use one concept and one preferred term. Treat the discouraged variants as separate rules.
- Add a short explanation that tells a reviewer why the preferred wording exists.
- Choose case-sensitive matching for capitalization requirements and whole-word matching when a term should not match inside another word.
- Avoid broad or ambiguous phrases that would create noisy findings.
Run the checklist
- Select ordinary page text or focus an ordinary browser editor.
- Choose Check current text.
- Review each finding and use the preferred wording only when it fits the sentence.
TermLock does not understand context and does not edit text automatically. It is not a grammar, AI, compliance, legal, accessibility, or factual review.
Maintain the vocabulary
Keep separate rule packs for a product, client, or documentation set. Export a pack as a local backup and import a reviewed pack when needed. TermLock is not team sync or shared governance software, and it does not replace an approved source style guide.
