Start with a small rule pack

1. Open Manage rule packs and create one pack for a product, client, or style guide.
2. Add one discouraged term or phrase and its preferred term.
3. Add a short explanation so the reason remains clear during review.
4. Choose case-sensitive or case-insensitive matching and decide whether the rule should require a whole-word match.

Check and review

1. Select ordinary page text, or focus an ordinary text field, textarea, or editable area.
2. Choose Check current text.
3. Review each finding and copy a preferred term only when it fits. TermLock does not edit the page and makes no automatic edits.

Know the limits

An exact match does not understand context, intent, meaning, or whether a configured replacement is right for a particular sentence. TermLock is not a grammar, AI, compliance, legal, accessibility, or factual review tool.

Google Docs canvas, Microsoft 365 canvas, Monaco, CodeMirror, files, PDFs, cross-origin frames, and closed shadow roots are not supported.

Private by design

Your checked text and rules stay on your device. Rule packs remain in local Chrome storage, and bounded findings use session storage only for the current review session.
